Friday
Ondra woke up Friday morning with a light flu. That in itself means nothing, because he knows from experience that minor ailment is not endangering his performance. Ondra likes the track at Imola. Almost immediately after the start of training came a red flag - oil on the track in Acque Minerali. After more
than half an hour the training continued. Andy circled the track, which he went last on five years ago. In the last phase of training, he managed to run a solid time of 1'56 .096, which ranked him at the sixteenth position. After lunch it got warmer considerably. The temperature of the asphalt during the first qualification climbed to 42° C. There were no problems with the motorcycle. Mechanics only eased one gear in the transmission. Ondra again featured among the most produtive riders with same 18 laps as in the morning. In the middle of qualifying he was on seventeenth place. In the end he even accelerated, but he did not manage to go flawlessly throughout a complete lap. This resulted in just a 20th place, although his ideal time was by 0.74 s! better than the real one in value of 1.55,643.
Ondra Jezek:
„Today was difficult for me. I got some flu and feel fit. All day I tried to ride as much laps as possible. It succeeded because we had no technical problems. Twentieth place in the qualifying is not the result as I
imagined, but I know that today I might have more luck on the track conditions. In the last two fastest laps slower riders came in my way and so I lost a lot in that place. Due to a decent ideal time I expect from tomorrow a significant improvement in time and movement in the result list. It would be nice if we
started on Sunday from the fourth row.“

Saturday
In the morning he is not feeling well again, but on the track it´s not visible. His qualifying time improves by 1.7 s! and ends in the second free practice on a solid fifteenth place. In the afternoon it again gets significantly warmer. All times in the afternoon´s timed practice are initially slower. Two red flags divide the qualification into thirds. Ondra oscillates all the time around the twentieth place. In the end, however, he gives everything in it. Improvement comes in the penultimate round. And finally, when the checkered flag is waved he moves into the fourth row at the start. Time of 1'53, 775 results in sixteenth position.
Ondra Jezek:
„I am totally devastated but happy. The whole day I spent in bed, so start of the qualification was a bit sleepy. In addition, it was constantly interrupted and I could not get into a good pace I had this morning. However, we had a very good bike set up and it was up to me to fight for the fourth row. This I did in my last lap, so I'm very happy. It's a good starting position for tomorrow's race. In addition, when accompanied in this row by Harms and Ellison which are expected to want to go forward. I believe that tomorrow I can fight for the top ten. Perhaps I´ll finally succeed.“

Sunday
Cyan morning sky promised another hot day. In the warm-up Ondra tried an alternative setting for the race but returned to the proven one. The start of the race was good, he held a 16th to 17th position. In the middle of the race some riders began to fall off due to crashes or technical faults. This, unfortunately, did not avoid Ondra. His Honda began to have trouble with shifting. Ondra in just a few rounds fell on the 18th place and took a slight loss to a rider in front of him. Problems persisted until the finish, which
he intersected at the fourteenth ranked position. With regard to the development of the race Ondra and the whole SMS Racing team expected a little more. Points are important after a long fasting and taking into consideration Ondra's solid results throughout the weekend all are looking forward to the next race at Magny-Cours.
Ondra Jezek:
„I'm very disappointed. It is good that after a long break we have won some points again. On the other hand, I know them today could be much more of them. From the third round I started to have problems with shifting and began to sink. At that time I rode behind Miguel Praia, who finished the race on 8th place. In an effort to eliminate the loss on the straights I made a mistake in the middle of the race at the last chicane and passed through gravel. I fell down to the 18th place. In the last few laps there were a few technical failures and crashes of my rivals, thanks to which I got to scoring positions. It's a pity, the whole weekend despite my health problems was excellent.”
