World Supersport Championship - PortimaoUnlucky end of an unlucky season.

At the "motocross" track, Autodromo Internacional Algarve in southern Portugal the World Superbike series came to an end in 2011. In Supersport class, rider Ondrej Jezek of Team SMS Racing was about for his last race. Training rides developed promisingly for Ondra. In particular, the Saturday morning training told that Ondra could already attack top ten in the qualifying. Such was the plan. In the afternoon, however, right at the outset of training session he had a fall that was caused by a collision with Vittorio Iannuzzo. Unfortunately, this collision ended wrongly for Ondra. Little finger abraded to the bone sent
him right to the medical center. After a quick examination he was taken by an ambulance to the hospital in Faro, where he underwent a plastic surgery. In this operation, he was under local anesthesia transplanted skin on the upper part of the little finger. Start in Sunday's race was therefore impossible.

Ondra Jezek:
It is almost unbelievable how much bad luck we had this year. In Portimao, I experienced the best weekend of the season. I believed to qualify for the third row. I think it would even came out, but that's only what if. Since the beginning of the second qualification I went behind Salome and Roccoli. However, in the fifth corner my back wheel was hit by Italian Iannuzzo who sent me to the ground. At first I did not realize anything, ran to the bike, picked it up and wanted to continue. Then I noticed my torn left glove and the fact that I'm missing a piece of a finger. That was the end. My finger most likely went under the handlebar while I was falling and was crumpled to the asphalt. Healing is still in the stage of question marks. Ideally, my nail will grow back. I hope that within three weeks the finger will be ok in order for me to be able to get back to the winter physical training as soon as possible and also to manage the pre-season testing.“
